What are the library's operating hours?
The library is open from Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with no noon break. On Saturdays, the library operates from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
How do I obtain a library card?
To get a library card, present your latest Enrollment Assessment Form and a 1x1 photo. New students and transferees must fill out an application form, while returning students will complete a validation sheet.
How can I borrow materials from the library?
To borrow library materials, you must present a valid library card. For faculty, books related to your teaching assignments can be borrowed for a maximum of 4 months, while students can borrow up to 1 book at a time. The materials must be returned on time to avoid fines.
Can I bring food or drinks into the library?
No, food and beverages are strictly prohibited inside the library. However, a designated coffee and tea area is available in the library’s relaxation zone for clients to enjoy refreshments.
Can I use library materials outside of the library?
Students can borrow circulation books for 3 days and fiction books for 1 week. Reserve books can be borrowed overnight with specific return guidelines. Any overdue materials will incur fines.
How do I renew a borrowed book?
To renew a book, bring it to the circulation desk. If the book is not in demand, the librarian will update the due date. You must return the book on time to avoid fines.
What should I do if I find a lost item in the library?
If you find an item, report it to a library staff member immediately. Valuable items like wallets will be stored for one day before being sent to the Vice President’s Office. Other items will be forwarded weekly.
What happens if I lose a book I borrowed from the library?
If you lose a book, you must notify the librarian immediately. You will need to replace the book with the same copy or a similar one, or pay the book's current value plus 50% of its cost. If the lost book is found later, fines will be assessed from the due date until the return date.
What are the consequences for violating library rules?
Violations such as defacing materials, taking items without checking them out, or refusing to return books on time may result in fines, loss of library privileges, or disciplinary action. Serious violations could lead to exclusion from the college.
Can I borrow library materials for my friends or family?
No, you cannot borrow materials for anyone who is not a student or faculty member of Bicol College. Only the registered borrower can check out library materials.
